Make & Mend Festival

5 paintings on large wooden boards for Make & Mend Festival in Stockton-on-tees.

Rachel and Lyndsey, the founders and force behind Make & Mend believe that making things is integral to our wellbeing. I completely agree that to be making something physical, is integral to what it means to be human. And so does my dad. 4 years ago, when I first collected Survival Techniques from friends & family, my dad said making something was one of his; it could be a simple meal or even a paper aeroplane.

It was a pleasure to work with Rachel and Lyndsey and have such a shared ethos and goal with our work.

I created the paintings at my studio on wooden boards that were then installed at the festival site.

I also made two sets of wooden stands, with the invaluable help of my dad, that would enable paintings to be freestanding.
