Do One Thing At A Time is a reminder that life can feel calmer and more achievable when we do just one thing at a time. Multitasking is, after all, a fallacy.
Usually the simplest words and actions can be the best for re-focusing ourselves, and I’ve found the clarity of this phrase has enabled me to cut through the tangle of noise and competing pressures, to stop chasing my tail and be able to move forwards.
The tendency to try and think of and work on multiple things at the same moment can feel like the only route through each busy day. But for me that usually means hopping around from one job to another without finishing anything, producing lots of stress and not much else.
I’m even trying to apply these words to usually thoughtless actions, like making sure that I use both hands for whatever task I’m attempting, rather than balancing an object in one hand and making a rushed mess of a job with the other. Put it down and do one thing at a time.
Hang this painting at home where it will catch your eye during one of those nonstop days, or in a workspace to nudge you back on track, one task at a time.
A gentle gift for anyone with a busy job, hectic home life, parents, carers, and for all of us trying to fit a quart into a pint pot.
Painting details:
This canvas has an extra deep 4cm edge, meaning it looks great hung as it is without necessarily needing to be framed (but of course you still can if you want).
