Make Time To Chat

Commission by AllPress Tokyo to create a painting on the window of their roastery.

The painting tied in with an exhibition of my work throughout the coffee shop and roastery that ran for 3 weeks, as well as a series of 'Survival Techniques' workshops.

Coffee shops have always been some of my favourite spaces. I can go by myself and have a small chat with the staff or go with a friend to catch up. It's great to have a place where this is half of the function and so in my mind they are always warm spaces. I created the phrase for the AllPress painting with this feeling in mind, and the knowledge that sometimes I can be rushing through everything in life, thinking I don't have time to stop, and then miss out on crucial moments to chat and connect with people. When I take the time to have just a tiny chat I feel so much better, and making time to chat has always been one of my Survival Techniques.

As part of the exhibition I also created a ‘Make Time To Chat’ screen-printed sacoche. It was printed in Tokyo, is a limited edition of 30 and is available in the Survival Techniques shop.
